Getting ready and other random things

A few weeks ago, Shani asked me if people were being nicer to me and at that point, the answer was no.  That's started to change a bit more recently.  I took the last part of my licensing exam last week (and passed, I'm a licensed psychologist now!!!) and was looking for the bathroom in the building where I took it.  I passed a guy who didn't know what I was doing, and he said 'The bathroom's that way.' :)

Another one like that - I went shopping for a few things for the baby room last week (that's weird - we're going to have a baby room :) ) and when I was walking up the stairs in the store, the people coming the other way moved over and offered me the railing.  These things are nice - sure beats the scary stories about labor, miscarriages, and other things that people feel compelled to tell me because I'm pregnant.

And unrelated to this stuff, but we ordered a crib and it came in the mail today.  Alex is upstairs starting to put it together.  It's cool and strange to think that in a few months, we'll have a person living in that room.  Up until now, it's been where I throw the clothes I haven't hung up and where we keep most of our books.  It's been fun to start shopping for baby things, but also a bit overwhelming.  We went to babies r us the other day and it's just baby overload.  It feels very similar to planning a wedding, where everyone tries to make you feel like you need everything they're selling or you won't be happy/your child won't be safe without it.  I'm trying to sift through the ridiculousness of some of that and balance it with the fact that I'm new to this and  need to figure out what I actually need.  It'll all come together......

  1. Overwhelming... but fun, too, right?

Baby doesn't need a lot when you get home, but on the flip side, you won't have as much time to shop once she arrives.

I looked at my friends' registries and asked my friends lots of questions. (Make sure you find someone with a similar parenting style!)

Glad people are starting to treat you nicely, and hoping you're staying cool!

    Much love <3
