Week 34 (Aug. 25)

We decided to go out and do a little more fun photography.  All these pictures are from Druid Hill Park, about 1 mile from our house.  More pictures will come!

So granted I'm wearing stripes and I took the pictures below my stomach to see how big I could make it look, but still....that bump is gigantic.

Baby room is coming together

Kelly and Caitlin came over last weekend and helped us make major progress on the baby room.  It was a giant mess and I would throw things in there as I accumulated them....unless you gave me a gift...I definitely did not throw your gift.  It was so thoughtful and helpful for them to start the organizing.  They took everything out of boxes and helped me put baby clothes away in the drawers....I washed baby clothes btw, that was weird, and nice :)  We worked for a few hours and by the time they left, the room was ready for a baby.  We still have to add the changing table and decorate, but a baby could sleep there now.....

I wish I'd taken a before picture....but this is close to one.  Look closely - you will see 'meta-shark'  (which is the shark Jess made us wrapped in a shark bathrobe) staring down the seal that Mark and Joel gave us at their wedding.

So pretty....And I just realized the other day that the pink hershey kisses say 'It's a girl!' on the paper part :)

                                     Jess made a shark of shame for Baby Girl....I love it :)

And thanks to my awesome co-workers, we now have a stroller and car seat - the car seat being one of two things we really need to keep a baby alive (good advice from Sarah).  So we're headed in the right direction :)

Alex's Ongoing Baby Project (before picture)

For those who have heard me talk about or have seen some of the damage I have done in the laundry room, this is the changing table that we got for free on Free Cycle.

I put this on here now so that when it is finished you can see what it looks like after I am done with it.

Week 33 (Aug 17)

32 weeks (Aug 11) & baby shower!

32 weeks!  This picture was taken at my lovely baby shower, which was this past Sunday.  It almost felt like a mini version of our wedding, where lots of people I love were there for a happy occasion.  People came from near and far - of the ones who came from far away - Alex's parents drove down from Massachusetts, our dear friends flew in from Milwaukee and Chicago, and his sister made a surprise drive from Pennsylvania.  I had such a good time and Kelly did a fabulous job of planning everything!  The location was beautiful (thanks Laura for letting us have it at your place!) and the decorations were so thoughtful - they doubled as items I can use to decorate the nursery.  We now have pretty much everything we need to keep a baby afloat (although, as my friend Sarah said, all you need is a carseat and a pediatrician - we now have the carseat thanks to my awesome coworkers and we're working on the pediatrician :) ).  Thanks to everyone who came and even if you weren't there in person, you were there in spirit.  Love you all!

31 Weeks (August 5)

 

This is from Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland.  Though it looks like we are at the top, this is really about ten feet from our parking spot which was by an overlook.  We did go hiking on a moderate trail around the summit, though the summit climb was a little too steep for us to do.
